Was this reply helpful? Sorry this didn't help. I tried your suggestions, but those did not work. Updating Windows 10 and rebooting somehow allowed Office to update afterward. That was very unusual to me since other systems in our company had automatically updated Office prior to the Windows 10 update. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
Search the community and support articles Install, redeem, activate Microsoft and Office Search Community member. I've tried closing out and reopening. I've tried rebooting the PC.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Under Update Options there are four items: update now, disable updates, view updates and about updates. To make sure, I disabled first, then enabled it again. Then I choose update now.
Same story: the sliding bar appears with "checking for updates" and "downloading updates", sliding bar disappears after a while, then up comes again the message "updates are available", "do you want to There's no "you are up to date". Next start of an application brings the same procedure. Let us try starting Office application in clean boot mode and then try installing updates and check if it work as expected.
Starting the computer in clean boot mode would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and the antivirus which could be one of the reason for the issue.

I did a clean boot restart following the instructions of the link above. After restart in a clean environment I opened an office application:. New message box with "office updates are available, update now" - yes, box disappears,nothing happens. I fully agree with this. I tried again "repair office", it did "repair", but shortly after that the messages "update now " started coming back, and no end in sight.
